Timeline you already know
Split, delete, speed, blade tool, snapping and undo, with the shortcuts you use in CapCut.
Features
Everything MotionShine does, from the first click you record to the file you share. Every feature is free. A licence only unlocks bigger exports.
The editor
Most screen recorders stop at trim and zoom. MotionShine gives you a real timeline: split and speed up clips, add music on its own lanes, drop in text and logos, blur private parts, change the camera layout mid video, and record a voice over on top. Everything stays editable, every time you open it.
Split, delete, speed, blade tool, snapping and undo, with the shortcuts you use in CapCut.
Add any number of songs and sounds, trim them, loop them, set each one’s volume.
Five text styles with in and out animations. A logo with a clear background goes to the corner by itself.
Blur a password, pixelate an email, or highlight the one thing that matters.
Count of three, speak, and it lands on its own track.
Clear labels, tooltips that show the shortcut, and plain words when something needs your attention.
Add another take or any video to the end and keep every edit.
Auto zoom and smooth cursor
MotionShine watches your clicks and zooms in on them, framing the button you pressed. Your shaky mouse becomes a smooth glide. Change any zoom on the timeline, or let it do the work.
Custom cursors
In most recorders the cursor is an afterthought. In MotionShine it is a design tool. Give it any colour, a gradient or a soft glow, pick a 3D cursor, or turn any picture into your cursor. Set its size, smoothness and click effect, and your style carries over to every new recording.
One colour, two colours of your own, or hand picked gradients.
A soft light in the cursor’s own colour that makes it easy to follow.
Glass, Chrome, Gold, Obsidian and Holo, made for MotionShine.
Drop in any image. MotionShine cuts out the background, trims it and finds the tip. Move the tip yourself if you like.
Circle and ripple clicks take the cursor’s colours, with real click sounds.
Smoothing, motion blur, and hide when still.
Your last cursor style is where every new recording starts.
Glow, gradients and 3D cursors: no other screen recorder we checked has them.
Backgrounds
Hand picked gradients, macOS wallpapers, a colour, or your own picture. Build your own gradient like in Figma, with as many colour stops as you like, and save it for every project. Add padding, round corners and a shadow in one click.
Camera and layouts
Record your webcam with your screen. Pick the bubble’s size, shape and corner, then switch layouts on the timeline: camera, screen, side by side, or screen with camera. Your face shows up exactly when it should.
Captions and clean audio
MotionShine writes captions on your Mac, with no upload, in more than 40 languages. Eight caption styles, word by word entrances, and a .srt file next to your video. Remove “um” and long pauses in one click, and clean up your voice so it sounds like a studio mic.
Your library
All your recordings live in one library. Open a video from last month and every zoom, caption and cut is right where you left it. Rename, sort, search and find the space each one uses. Open several projects at once in tabs, like a browser.
Made for recording
A prompter that scrolls your script while you record, hidden from the video.
The keys you press appear on screen as clean badges.
Recording pauses when a password manager or a banking app comes to the front.
Fix a bad start without opening the editor.
Whole screen, one window, or a box set to 1080p, 9:16 or 1:1.
If something stops, what you recorded is saved.
Formats
Change the shape after you record: 16:9 for YouTube and docs, 1:1 for feed posts, 4:5 for Instagram, 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Export MP4 or GIF, keep editing while the export runs in the background, or copy a quick export straight to your clipboard.
Easy to use
MotionShine is built to be easy, not just powerful. Every control sits where you expect it, every message is in plain words, and nothing you do is lost. You do not need to learn video editing to make a video that looks edited.
A setup guide walks you through each Mac permission with one button, and restarts the app for you when macOS needs it.
Your media on the left, the video in the middle, the settings on the right, the timeline below. If you have used CapCut, you already know it.
Open videos in tabs, like a browser, and switch between them.
Type what you want to do and press Return.
Autosave, undo for every step, and a safe copy if something goes wrong.
Exports run in the background, so you can start the next edit right away.
Change any shortcut, or use the CapCut ones you already know.
Designed to look and feel at home on a Mac, with Apple’s own icons and a dark interface that keeps your video in focus.
MotionShine is free for good, with every feature. Add a licence only if you want bigger exports.
