Guide

350 °F in °C, worked out and checked.

350 °F is 176.67 °C when rounded to 2 decimals. To do 350 F to C, take 32 off 350 to get 318, then divide by 1.8. That gives 176.67 as a rounded figure. The exact value is the fraction 530/3, which is 176 2/3 °C, so the decimals go on for ever. This page works out 350 °F in Celsius, shows the sum, and has a box where you can try any other temperature.

How to use the converter

  1. The box Degrees Fahrenheit (°F) starts at 350. Type another number to change it. A minus sign works.
  2. The big card shows the answer in °C. Under it the sum is written out step by step.
  3. Decimals sets how many digits show. The first choice shows up to 2 and drops zeros at the end.
  4. Press Turn it around: °C to °F to go the other way. The answer moves into the box and the page shows it in Fahrenheit.
  5. Copy result copies "350 °F = 176.67 °C". Copy link copies an address that opens this page with your number. A row in the table loads when you click it, and Back to 350 °F returns to the start.

The sum for 350 °F

NIST Handbook 44 (2026), Appendix C gives the equation: degree Celsius = (degree Fahrenheit − 32) ÷ 1.8, and kelvin = that + 273.15 (page read 24 Oct 2026). Both 1.8 and 32 are exact. So 350 − 32 = 318, and 318 ÷ 1.8 = 176.67 (rounded). Worked as a fraction, 318 × 5 ÷ 9 = 1,590/9, which cancels to 530/3. In kelvin, 350 °F is 449.816667 K, and in degrees Rankine it is 809.67 °R.

Why the sum looks like this

A Fahrenheit degree is smaller than a Celsius degree. The formula fits 180 Fahrenheit degrees into the same gap as 100 Celsius degrees, so one Fahrenheit degree is 100 ÷ 180 = 5/9 of a Celsius degree. The zero marks are in different places too, because 32 °F sits at 0 °C. So 350 °F is 318 Fahrenheit degrees above that mark, which is 318 × 5/9 = 176.67 Celsius degrees above 0 °C.

Check it in your head

The quick habit is to take 30 off and halve it. For 350 °F that gives 160 °C, which is 16.67 °C too low. A closer way is to take off 32 (318), multiply by 5 (1,590), then divide by 9. That gives 176.67 °C when rounded.

350 °F and the USDA roasting line

The USDA says that when roasting meat and poultry you should use an oven temperature no lower than 325 °F (USDA FSIS, Danger Zone (40 °F to 140 °F), read 24 Oct 2026). 325 °F is 162.78 °C, and 350 °F, at 176.67 °C, is 13.89 °C above it. Many ovens set in Celsius step by 5 or 10, so the nearest dial numbers are 175 °C (347 °F) and 180 °C (356 °F). The page converts the number only.

Oven temperatures side by side

Recipes written in Fahrenheit use marks like 350 °F and 375 °F. A Celsius dial usually moves in steps of 5 or 10, so the dial number is a rounding of the exact one. The last two columns only round the exact figure to the nearest step and show what that step is in Fahrenheit. They are not a rule from any oven maker, so check your own manual.

Oven temperature is not food temperature

The FoodSafety.gov, safe minimum internal temperature chart (read 24 Oct 2026) lists the lowest temperature the inside of the food must reach, checked with a food thermometer. That is a different number from the oven setting. The chart prints whole Celsius numbers, so the third column below shows the exact value of each Fahrenheit figure.

More worked examples

  • 349 °F. 349 − 32 = 317, and 317 ÷ 1.8 = 176.11 °C.
  • 350.5 °F. 350.5 − 32 = 318.5, and 318.5 ÷ 1.8 = 176.94 °C.
  • Twice the temperature. 700 °F is 371.11 °C, not 353.33 °C, because the 32 is taken off once and not doubled.

Worked examples near 350 °F

The formula puts 32 °F at 0 °C and 212 °F at 100 °C. 350 °F is 318 °F above the 32 °F mark, so the answer is 176.67 °C above 0 °C.

Each row is the same sum as the one above. The middle column is the step before the last one, so you can follow the arithmetic.

Rounding

The answer does not end, so it has to be rounded. To 0, 1, 2 and 3 decimals it is 177, 176.7, 176.67 and 176.667 °C. Rounding to a whole degree is off by 0.333 °C, and rounding to 2 decimals is off by 0.0033 °C at most.

Going back

Going back with the exact value gives 350 °F. If you use the rounded 176.67 °C instead, you get 350.006 °F, a small gap that comes only from the rounding. One degree Celsius is 1.8 °F, so 351.8 °F is 177.67 °C.

Mistakes that matter at this number

  • Skipping the 32. 350 ÷ 1.8 = 194.44, which is 17.78 °C too high.
  • Using the Celsius formula the wrong way round. 350 × 1.8 + 32 = 662, which only works from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
  • Reading the answer on the wrong scale. 350 °C is not 350 °F: 350 °C is 662 °F.

How accurate is this page

The sum uses exact fractions, not the floating point numbers most calculators use, so no tiny error hides in the last digits. The answer is rounded once, at the end, to the number of decimals you pick. The factors come from NIST Handbook 44 (2026), Appendix C, which gives 1.8 and 32 as exact. Everything runs in your browser.

However you type it

350 F to C, 350 degrees F to C, 350f in c and 350 Fahrenheit to Celsius are the same sum. Check the unit letters before you trust any answer, because the right number on the wrong scale is the commonest slip. The arrow keys step the number in the box up and down, which helps when you have a short list to run through, and only your decimals choice is remembered. Other values close by: 160 °F is 71.11 °C; 180 °F is 82.22 °C; 375 °F is 190.56 °C; 400 °F is 204.44 °C.
