Citation generator, APA, MLA and Chicago.

Pick a website, a book or a journal article and fill in the details, or paste a DOI to fill them from Crossref, and see the citation in APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition and Chicago 17th edition at once. Copy one into your document with the italics in place, and add citations to a reference list that sorts itself A to Z. It covers the common cases; for unusual sources, check your style guide.

My reference list

APA uses sentence case for titles (only the first word and names in capitals). Type the title the way your style wants it.

Citations are made in your browser. A DOI is looked up in Crossref's public API; nothing else is sent. Your list stays in this browser.

    Questions

    Good to know.

How do I cite a website in APA?

Author. (Year, Month Day). Title of page. Site Name. URL. Choose Website, fill in the details and copy the APA line.

    What is a DOI?

A permanent ID for an article, like 10.1038/nature12373. Most journal articles show it on the first page.

Will italics copy into Word or Google Docs?

Yes. The citation is copied with its italics.

Does it handle every source type?

It covers websites, books and journal articles, the most common. For others, check your style guide.

    Is my list saved?
