Guide
The time in London is Greenwich Mean Time, GMT, which is UTC+0, in winter, and British Summer Time, BST, which is UTC+1, in summer. People often say "GMT" for London time all year, but in summer the London clock is an hour ahead of GMT. The big clock above shows London to the second, and the card says whether it is on GMT or BST right now.
The UK government page "When do the clocks change" says the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October. It gives 29 March and 25 October for 2026 and 28 March and 31 October for 2027. It names GMT as the UK's standard time, in effect when the clocks are set back, and BST as the period when the clocks are 1 hour ahead. Checked 24 Oct 2026.
The UK government gives these dates: forward at 1am on the last Sunday in March, back at 2am on the last Sunday in October.
| Date (local) | Clock before | Clock after |
|---|---|---|
| Sun 29 Mar 2026 | 1:00 AM GMT | 2:00 AM BST |
| Sun 25 Oct 2026 | 2:00 AM BST | 1:00 AM GMT |
| Sun 28 Mar 2027 | 1:00 AM GMT | 2:00 AM BST |
| Sun 31 Oct 2027 | 2:00 AM BST | 1:00 AM GMT |
The cards above give the next change from your browser's own data. Dates in the table come from the IANA database, version 2026e, read on 24 Oct 2026.
GMT is a time standard that stays at UTC+0. London is on it only in winter. From the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October the city is on BST, UTC+1. A meeting booked at "10:00 GMT" in July is at 11:00 on the London wall clock. If you mean London local time, write "London time" or "UK time", and the right name follows from the date.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use the same clock as London. The IANA database also links the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey to the London zone, so all of them show the same time as the clock above.
| Place | London vs the place, 15 Jan 2026 | London vs the place, 15 Jul 2026 |

| Paris | 1 h behind | 1 h behind |

| New York | 5 h ahead | 5 h ahead |
| Los Angeles | 8 h ahead | 8 h ahead |

The two places do not change their clocks on the same days, so the gap is not one number. Each row starts on the day the gap changes, by the clock in London. The change happens at a set hour that day, so use the box above for an exact time.
