Guide
New York is on Eastern Time: Eastern Standard Time, EST, UTC-5, in winter and Eastern Daylight Time, EDT, UTC-4, in summer. The big clock shows New York to the second. The cards show the zone, the offset, the next clock change and your gap to the city, and a world clock sits underneath.
Section 71.4 of 49 CFR Part 71 says the Eastern zone is the part of the United States west of 67 degrees 30 minutes west longitude and east of the boundary line described in section 71.5, and includes all of Maine. New York State lies east of that line. Section 71.2 sets the clock change. Checked 24 Oct 2026.
Under 49 CFR section 71.2, standard time is advanced one hour at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March, and the advance ends at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. A state may exempt itself, and this one does not. In 2026 the dates are Sunday 8 March and Sunday 1 November. In 2027 they are Sunday 14 March and Sunday 7 November.

The cards above give the next change from your browser's own data. Dates in the table come from the IANA database, version 2026e, read on 24 Oct 2026.
The US and the UK do not change their clocks on the same days, so for a few weeks every year the usual gap is off by one hour. The table further down lists the exact dates for 2026. If you schedule a call with London in March or late October, check the date and do not trust the usual number.
Eastern Time covers a long strip of the country, so the clock you see here also holds for Washington, Atlanta and Charlotte. See and .
