Free tool
Drop in an EPUB or a text file, or paste your own writing, and get it read aloud by a natural AI voice. The chapters are found for you, you choose which ones to read, and each one is saved as its own MP3, ready for any audiobook or podcast app. The voices run in this tab, so your book is never uploaded.
Reading
Each chapter appears with a player as soon as it is ready. The first time, the page downloads the AI voice (about 92 MB for English) and keeps it for next time.
Your book is read aloud in your browser. It is never uploaded.

Questions
No. The book is opened in this tab and the AI voice runs here too, so the text never leaves your computer. There is no account and no limit on length.
It depends on your computer. In our test on a Mac the English voices made about one second of speech every two seconds, so a chapter of 20 minutes takes about 40 minutes. Keep the tab open while it works; finished chapters stay ready to save if you stop.
Only books without DRM can be read, and an audiobook of someone else's book is for your own listening. Books in the public domain, your own writing and texts you have the rights to are fine to share.
The same voices as our text to speech tool: eight English voices, plus Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Hindi and Bangla. Pick a voice that matches the book's language. Each voice's licence allows commercial use; some ask for credit, listed on the text to speech page.
An EPUB keeps its own reading order, and each section's first heading becomes its title. In a text file, a line starting with # or with Chapter, Part, Prologue or Epilogue starts a chapter. Long chapters, and text with no headings, are cut into parts of about 2,500 words, around 17 minutes each.
Yes, with PDF to audio, which reads the PDF's text and headings the same way. For a Word file, save it as PDF or TXT first.
