CBR to PDF, comic pages in the right order.

Drop a CBR or CBZ comic and get one PDF. The pages are put in natural order, so page 2 comes before page 10. JPG pictures go in exactly as they are. Pick the page size, remove pages, or reverse the order. The comic is opened in your browser and never uploaded.

The comic is opened in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

Open, check the pages, download.

01 / Open

RAR or ZIP inside

A CBR is a RAR and a CBZ is a ZIP. The kind is read from the file itself, so a wrongly named file still opens.

02 / Check

Pages in natural order

Every picture is shown as a small page. Page 2 comes before page 10. Remove any page, or reverse the order.

03 / Save

One PDF

JPG pictures go in as they are, with no new compression. The PDF is made again when you change a setting.

Guide

How to convert CBR to PDF, and keep the pictures sharp.

A CBR to PDF converter takes a comic book archive and makes one PDF from its pictures, so the comic opens in any PDF reader, on any phone and in apps that do not know the CBR format. This one runs in your browser. The comic is read on your computer, its pages are sorted in natural order, and the PDF is built there too. It also opens CBZ files, which are the same idea in a ZIP.

How to convert a CBR to PDF

  1. Drop the .cbr or .cbz file on the box, or click it to choose the file.
  2. Wait while the pages are read. A CBR is unpacked first, which takes a moment for a big comic.
  3. Look at the pages. They are numbered in the order they go into the PDF. Press the cross on a page to remove it, for example a scanner's credits page.
  4. Choose a Page size and, if you like, Last picture first for a book that reads right to left.
  5. Press Download the PDF.

What a CBR and a CBZ are

A comic book archive is a folder of page pictures, packed into one file and renamed. A CBR is a RAR file. A CBZ is a ZIP file. Some comics use 7-Zip (CB7) or TAR (CBT), and those open here too. Because the name can be wrong, this page looks at the first bytes of the file to decide how to open it, so a CBR that is really a ZIP is not a problem.

Why the page order is right

Most comics name their pictures page1, page2, and so on. A plain sort puts page10 before page2, because it compares letters one by one. This page sorts numbers as numbers, so the order is page1, page2, page3 up to page10, page11. Pictures in folders are sorted by their whole path. The order you see on screen is the order of the PDF.

Page size

ChoiceWhat the PDF pages look like
Same as the first pictureEvery page has the size of the first picture. Pictures that are a different shape sit in the middle, with a colour around them.
Each picture its own sizeEvery page is exactly as big as its picture. Double pages are wider.
Fit to A4 or US LetterEvery page is paper size. A picture wider than tall gets a landscape page. The whole picture is shown, never cropped.

In the first two choices, one picture pixel is 0.75 of a PDF point, which is 96 pixels per inch. A picture 1200 pixels wide and 1800 pixels tall becomes a page 900 by 1350 points, or 12.5 by 18.75 inches. For paper, an 800 by 1200 picture fitted to A4 (595.28 by 841.89 points) is scaled by the smaller of 595.28 divided by 800 and 841.89 divided by 1200, which is 0.7016. It is drawn 561 points wide and as tall as the page, so about 17 points of background colour show on each side.

Picture quality

With As they are, a JPG goes into the PDF as the same bytes, so there is no new loss and the PDF is about as big as the pictures put together. A PNG goes in without loss too. WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP pictures are drawn on a canvas and saved as JPG at quality 92, because PDF cannot hold them directly. Choose Smaller file and every picture is scaled to at most 1600 pixels on its longest side and saved as JPG at quality 75. That is the choice for reading on a phone.

What is not supported

  • Comics locked with a password, and comics split into several parts, are refused with a message.
  • The text in a comic is part of the picture, so it cannot be selected or searched in the PDF.
  • A file other than a picture, such as ComicInfo.xml, is left out. The page tells you how many were skipped.
  • A very large comic is held in your browser's memory. If the page runs out of memory, remove pages or choose Smaller file.

Only convert comics you own or have the right to copy. To open a RAR as a plain ZIP, use RAR to ZIP. To put loose pictures into a PDF, use JPG to PDF.

Questions

Good to know.

Is my comic uploaded?

No. The CBR or CBZ is opened and turned into a PDF in this tab, so it never leaves your computer.

What is the difference between CBR and CBZ?

A CBR is a RAR archive of page pictures and a CBZ is a ZIP archive of page pictures. The pictures are what matter, and both open here.

Will page 2 come before page 10?

Yes. Names are sorted with numbers as numbers, so the pages come out in reading order. The order shown on screen is the order of the PDF.

Do the pictures lose quality?

Not with As they are. A JPG is put into the PDF as it is and a PNG without loss. WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP pictures are saved as JPG at quality 92. Smaller file lowers the size on purpose.

Can I make a manga read right to left?

Tick Last picture first and the PDF starts with the last picture in the file. Check the page numbers on screen, which follow the new order.

Can I take out the credits page or an ad?

Yes. Press the cross on any page and it is removed from the PDF.

Why is the PDF so big?

Comic pages are large pictures, and with As they are the PDF holds them unchanged. Choose Smaller file to cut the size.

Does it work with a password-protected comic?

No. A locked archive is refused with a message, and a comic split over several files cannot be joined here.

Can the PDF be searched for words?

No. A comic page is a picture, and the words are part of it. This page does not read text from pictures.
