Dl to mL converter, one deciliter is 100 milliliters.
To turn deciliters into milliliters, multiply by 100, so 1 dl is 100 mL and 2.5 dl is 250 mL. Type dl and read mL. Cards show liters, centiliters, US fluid ounces and US cups. The swap button goes from mL to dl.

Guide
How to convert dl to mL, and fill a US measuring cup from a dl recipe.
To convert dl to mL, multiply the deciliters by 100. So 1 dl is 100 mL, 2.5 dl is 250 mL and 0.5 dl is 50 mL. Move the decimal point two places to the right. The sum is exact because a deciliter is exactly a tenth of a liter and a milliliter is a thousandth, which makes 100 mL in one dl. The reverse is a division by 100: 350 mL is 3.5 dl.
How to use the converter
- Type the amount in the Deciliters (dL) box. A decimal such as 2.5 works.
- The big result shows Milliliters (mL). Use Decimals in the side column to fix the number of places.
- The cards under the result show the same amount in other units.
- Type in the second box, or press ⇄, to go the other way.
- Click a row in Common values to load it. Copy result, Copy link, Copy table and Print chart keep the answer. Start again resets the box.
- Under the tables, Convert a list takes many amounts at once. Paste one per line, for example a column from a spreadsheet, and read them all in the units shown above. Copy results copies the table, and the swap button turns the list around.
Where the 100 comes from
A deciliter is 10-1 L and a milliliter is 10-3 L (BIPM list of SI prefixes and NIST metric SI prefixes, checked 26 Oct 2026). The ratio of the two is 102, which is 100. No extra tools are needed: 1 L has 10 dl and 1,000 mL, so 1 dl has 1,000 ÷ 10 = 100 mL.

Worked examples
- 2 dl of cream. 2 × 100 = 200 mL, about 0.845 US cup.
- 2.5 dl of flour. 250 mL. This is a volume. It is about a cup, but the weight depends on how the flour is packed.
- 1 dl of oil. 100 mL, which is 6.763 US tablespoons.
- 0.75 dl. 75 mL.
- mL back to dl. 450 mL ÷ 100 = 4.5 dl.
Measuring a dl without a dl jug
If you have a US cup and not a dl measure, one dl is 0.4227 of a cup, which is a little less than half a cup. Half a cup is 118.29 mL, so two dl is a little less than a cup. If you have spoons, 1 dl is about 6.76 US tablespoons, or 20 spoons of 5 mL each (the US label teaspoon is 5 mL). A syringe or a jug marked in mL is easiest. The label teaspoon and tablespoon sizes of 5 mL and 15 mL come from 21 CFR 101.9(b)(5)(viii), read 26 Oct 2026.
Mistakes to avoid
The first is multiplying by 10, which gives centiliters. The second is multiplying by 1,000, which is the sum for liters to mL. The third is using a US cup as if it were 2 dl: a US cup is 2.3659 dl. The fourth is assuming that a dl of an ingredient weighs 100 g. That is true only for water and things close to it.

Questions
Good to know.
How many ml is 1 dl?
100 mL, exactly.
How many ml is 2 dl?
200 mL.
How many ml is 2.5 dl?
250 mL, which is a quarter of a liter.
How many ml is 5 dl?
500 mL, half a liter.
How do you convert dl to ml?
Multiply by 100. Move the decimal point two places to the right.
How many dl are in 1000 ml?
10 dl, since 1,000 mL is a liter.
How many cups is 1 dl?
About 0.4227 US cups, a bit less than half a cup.
Is a dl of flour 100 grams?
No. A deciliter is a volume. Flour is lighter than water, so a dl of flour weighs less than 100 g.
