Free tool

Song maker, click to make music.

Click squares in the grid to place notes, and the row of drums below for a beat; the loop plays as you build it. Pick a major, minor or pentatonic scale so it always sounds right, choose the key, 16 or 32 steps, the tempo and an instrument from piano to soft pad. Save it as a WAV to share or a MIDI file to keep working on in GarageBand, Logic or any music app.

Click or drag across squares to add notes; click again to remove. Space plays and stops. The bottom three rows are hi-hat, snare and kick.

The music is made in your browser. Your song is kept in this browser and never sent anywhere.

A WAV to share, or a MIDI file with the notes and drums to keep editing in a music app.
