Guide
Las Vegas is on Pacific Time: Pacific Standard Time, PST, which is UTC-8, in winter and Pacific Daylight Time, PDT, UTC-7, in summer. Nevada moves its clocks on the same dates as California, so Las Vegas always shows the same time as Los Angeles. The big clock above is Las Vegas time to the second, and the cards show the next clock change and your gap to Las Vegas right now.
In 49 CFR Part 71, section 71.9, the boundary between the Mountain and Pacific zones includes a line along the Utah-Nevada boundary, the Nevada-Arizona boundary and the Arizona-California boundary. That puts Nevada on the Pacific side, and the same section sets the city of West Wendover apart, so it is the one place in Nevada the line treats differently. The US Department of Transportation's list of places that do not observe daylight saving time does not include Nevada, and under section 71.2 the clocks move forward at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and back at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. The IANA time zone database has no separate zone for Las Vegas, so the page uses America/Los_Angeles, which has the same rules. Checked 18 Oct 2026.
The table shows how far Las Vegas is ahead of or behind each place in the middle of January and July 2026.
| Place | Las Vegas vs the place, 15 Jan 2026 | Las Vegas vs the place, 15 Jul 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | 1 h behind | same time |
| Denver | 1 h behind | 1 h behind |
| Chicago | 2 h behind | 2 h behind |
| New York | 3 h behind | 3 h behind |
| Honolulu | 2 h ahead | 3 h ahead |
The most useful row for travellers is Phoenix, which is a common drive. In winter Phoenix is one hour ahead of Las Vegas. In summer both are on the same time, because Phoenix does not change its clocks and Las Vegas moves to UTC-7, which is where Phoenix already is. Denver is always one hour ahead. Hawaii does not change either, so it is 2 hours behind Las Vegas in winter and 3 hours behind in summer.
You want to reach a show at 7:30 PM in Las Vegas on Saturday 24 October 2026 and you are in Chicago. Las Vegas is on PDT, UTC-7, so 7:30 PM is 2:30 AM UTC on Sunday. Chicago is on CDT, UTC-5, so subtract 5 hours from 2:30 AM UTC: it is 9:30 PM on Saturday in Chicago. Chicago is 2 hours ahead of Las Vegas all year. In winter the arithmetic is the same shape, with PST at UTC-8 and CST at UTC-6.
In 2026 Las Vegas moved to PDT on Sunday 8 March 2026 and returns to PST on Sunday 1 November 2026. At 2:00 AM on the autumn date, the clock goes back to 1:00 AM, so 1:30 AM happens twice. If you book a flight, a show or a shuttle in the early hours of that Sunday, check which 1:30 AM is meant. The time zone converter points out times that happen twice.
A call at 9:00 AM Las Vegas time is noon in New York, 11:00 AM in Chicago and 10:00 AM in Denver. If you use the box above with your own place, you get the exact time on your clock. The strip of eight times shows the common hours of your day with the matching Las Vegas time.
The page shows your device clock converted to Las Vegas time. If the device clock is a few seconds off, so is the page. The online clock has a Check my clock button that compares your device with the web server.
