Cm3 to mL converter, a cubic centimeter is exactly one milliliter.
Cubic centimeters to milliliters is a rename, not a sum: 1 cm³ is exactly 1 mL, so 250 cm³ is 250 mL. Type cm3 and read mL. Cards show liters, US fluid ounces, cups and teaspoons. The swap button goes from mL to cm³.

How to convert cm3 to mL, and what cc means.
To convert cm3 to ml, change nothing: 1 cubic centimeter is exactly 1 milliliter. So 5 cm³ is 5 mL, 250 cm³ is 250 mL and 1,000 cm³ is 1,000 mL, which is 1 liter. The two units are the same volume with two names. Cm³ is the name from geometry, for the size of a cube one centimeter on each side. The mL is the name from measuring liquids. A common shorthand, cc, means the same thing again.
How to use the converter
- Type the amount in the Cubic centimeters (cm³) box. You can type cm3 as a plain number, such as 250 or 1,500.
- The big result shows Milliliters (mL). Use Decimals in the side column to fix the number of places.
- The cards under the result show the same amount in other units.
- Type in the second box, or press ⇄, to go the other way.
- Click a row in Common values to load it. Copy result, Copy link, Copy table and Print chart keep the answer. Start again resets the box.
- Under the tables, Convert a list takes many amounts at once. Paste one per line, for example a column from a spreadsheet, and read them all in the units shown above. Copy results copies the table, and the swap button turns the list around.
Why they are equal
NIST Guide to the SI, chapter 5 (checked 26 Oct 2026) says 1 L = 1 dm³ = 10-3 m³. A milliliter is a thousandth of a liter, so 1 mL = 10-6 m³. A cubic centimeter is (10-2 m)³, which is also 10-6 m³. The two values match exactly, and the drawing below shows it: a cube 10 cm on a side holds 1,000 cm³, which is one liter, and the small cube beside it, 1 cm on a side, holds 1 cm³, which is one milliliter.
Cm3 and cc
The letters cc stand for cubic centimeter, and engines, motorcycles and older medical notes use them. NIST Guide to the SI, chapter 6 lists cc as an abbreviation not to use, and the symbol it wants is cm³. Both mean 1 mL. So a 150 cc scooter has a 150 cm³ engine, and 150 cm³ is 150 mL, or 0.15 L.

Worked examples
- A box 5 cm by 4 cm by 3 cm. 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 cm³, which is 60 mL, or 2.029 US fl oz.
- A 250 cm³ cup. 250 mL, which is 1.057 US cups.
- A 1,600 cc car engine. 1,600 cm³ is 1,600 mL, or 1.6 L.
- A 650 cc motorcycle. 650 mL, 0.65 L.
- A 2.0 liter engine. Swap the boxes: 2 L is 2,000 mL, so 2,000 cm³.
Engine sizes and liquid sizes
Engine displacement is the volume the pistons sweep. A car sold as 1.6 liters has about 1,600 cm³. A 1,000 cc engine is a one liter engine. The volume of a measuring jug is the same idea. Nothing changes between cm³ and mL: use whichever the other number in your problem uses. For a volume from sizes, multiply length, width and height in centimeters and the result is already in cm³ and in mL.
Mistakes to avoid
The first is looking for a factor. There is none, or it is 1. The second is the cubic meter: 1 m³ is 1,000,000 cm³, not 1,000 (see cubic meters to liters). The third is a square: cm² is an area, cm³ is a volume. The fourth is mixing mL up with the weight of water. A cube of water 1 cm on a side has a mass close to 1 g, but the mL is a volume and stays a volume.

Questions
Good to know.
How many mL are in 1 cm3?
Exactly 1 mL.
Is cc the same as mL?
Yes. The abbreviation cc means cubic centimeter, and 1 cc is 1 mL.
How many mL is 100 cm3?
100 mL.
How many liters is 1000 cm3?
1 liter.
How do you convert cm3 to ml?
Keep the number. 1 cm³ is 1 mL, so only the unit name changes.
How many cm3 are in a liter?
1,000 cm³.
How many cc is a 1.6 liter engine?
About 1,600 cc, which is 1,600 cm³.
How many cm3 are in a cubic meter?
1,000,000 cm³, a hundred times a hundred times a hundred.
