Number to words, for cheques and more.

Type a number and see it written out in English words, ready for a cheque, an invoice, a legal document or homework. Choose plain words, an ordinal like twenty-first, or cheque style with the currency and the cents as a fraction. Use the British "one hundred and five", and the Indian system of lakh and crore. Even very long numbers stay exact.

How to write amounts

The way cheques want it.

01 / Cheques

Words and a fraction

On a cheque the amount is written in words with the cents as a fraction: one hundred twenty dollars and 50/100.

02 / Hyphens

Twenty-one, not twenty one

Numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine take a hyphen when written out, which the converter adds.

03 / Lakh and crore

Indian numbering

In India, Bangladesh and nearby, 1,00,000 is one lakh and 1,00,00,000 one crore; switch the number system to write it that way.
