Shoe size converter, US, UK, EU and cm.

Type a shoe size in one system, or your foot length, and get the same size in US, UK, EU (Paris point) and Japan (cm), for men, women, kids and toddlers. It shows the foot length in cm and inches, the same foot in the other groups, and a women's shoe size chart or men's chart for the group you pick. Brands differ, so the numbers are a guide. Print the foot measure sheet to measure at home.

The rules

Three scales, one last length.

01 / UK and US

Steps of one third of an inch

Each full UK or US size is one barleycorn, a third of an inch, longer than the one before.

02 / EU

Steps of two thirds of a cm

The EU size, in Paris points, is the length of the shoe's last in cm times 1.5.

03 / Japan

Your foot in cm

Japanese sizes, and Mondopoint, are the foot length itself, in steps of half a cm.

Guide

Shoe size conversion and the women's shoe size chart, explained.

A shoe size converter turns a size in one system into the same size in another. For adults, a US men's 9 is a UK 8, about an EU 42 and a foot about 26 cm long, and the same foot is a women's US 10.5. This page does that for men, women, toddlers and kids, and also works backwards from your foot length. Treat every answer as a guide: brands cut their shoes differently, so check the brand's own chart before you buy.

How to use the shoe size converter

  1. Under Size for, pick Men, Women, Toddlers and little kids or Big kids.
  2. Under I know my, pick the system you have: US size, UK size, EU size, foot length in cm or foot length in inches.
  3. Type the number. The cards show US, UK, EU, Japan (cm), Mondopoint in mm and the foot length in cm and inches.
  4. Read The same foot, in each group to see the men's, women's and kids' size for that foot, which answers questions like "what is a men's 8 in women's".
  5. Scroll to the size chart for the whole run of sizes in the group, with your size marked.

The rules the tool uses

The tool uses the published sizing rules, read on 26 Oct 2026 from Wikipedia's shoe size article and, for the Paris point, Metric Views. The ISO standard for Mondopoint (ISO 9407) is sold by ISO, so it was not read here; what is used is the rules as the article describes them.

  • UK and US sizes step by one third of an inch (a barleycorn). With the last length L in inches, a UK adult size is 3L minus 25, a US men's size is 3L minus 24 (one above the UK) and a UK child size is 3L minus 12.
  • US women's sizes are the men's size plus 1.5 on the scale most shops use. An older scale adds only 1. This tool uses plus 1.5, which is how big brands list them.
  • EU (Paris point) steps by two thirds of a cm. The size is 1.5 times the last length in cm.
  • Foot length is the last length minus two thirds of an inch, which is the allowance in the UK and US rules.
  • Japan sizes and Mondopoint are the foot length in cm (mm for Mondopoint) in steps of 5 mm.

A worked example

Take a men's US 9. The UK size is 9 minus 1, so 8. The last length is (8 + 25) divided by 3, which is 11 inches or 27.94 cm. The EU size is 27.94 times 1.5, which is 41.9, shown as 42. The foot length is 11 minus two thirds, 10.33 inches, or 26.2 cm, which is 26 on the Japan scale. The women's size for the same foot is 9 plus 1.5, which is 10.5.

How it compares with brand charts

Two brand charts were read on 26 Oct 2026: Nike's men's footwear chart and Puma New Zealand's size charts. Both agree with the UK column here. They differ on EU and on foot length.

US men'sUKEU hereEU NikeEU PumaFoot cm hereFoot cm, both brands
7639.5403924.625
8740.54140.525.426
984242.54226.227
10943444327.128
111044.54544.527.929

What stands out: the EU size here matches Puma at every row but 7 and is within one size of Nike. The two brands list the foot length as exactly 1 cm more for each US size, while the true step is a third of an inch, 0.85 cm, so over these five rows their cm column drifts from the rule by 0.6 cm. Nike also lists foot length in inches on its page, 10 for a men's 8 and 10 5/16 for a 9, which agrees with the 25.4 and 26.2 cm here to within 0.1 cm. A men's US 8 is 26 cm on both brand charts and 25.4 cm here, so when you are between sizes, use the bigger one.

Toddlers and kids

Kids' sizes use the same steps. UK child sizes run 0 to 13.5, then restart at 1 as the adult scale begins. US kids' sizes run 0 to 13.5 and then restart at 1Y for big kids, up to 7Y. A child size is 13 above the adult size for the same foot. Children's feet grow fast, so leave a little room, and take the bigger size when between two.

Measuring your foot at home

Stand on a flat floor with your heel against a wall and a sheet of paper under your foot. Mark the tip of the longest toe, step off and measure from the wall to the mark. Measure both feet, late in the day when feet are largest, and use the longer one. Press Download foot measure sheet (PDF) for a landscape sheet with a ruler in cm and inches and the sizes of each system printed along it. Print it at 100 percent, then check it against a ruler. The sheet reaches feet up to about 27 cm on A4 and 25.5 cm on Letter. For longer feet, use a tape measure.

If you only need the length in another unit, try cm to inches or inches to cm. For a person's height, there is the height converter.

Questions

Good to know.

How do I convert shoe sizes between US, UK and EU?

Pick the group, choose the system you know, and type the size. For men, UK is the US size minus 1, and EU is about 1.5 times the shoe's last length in cm. A men's US 9 is a UK 8 and an EU 42.

What is a men's size in women's shoes?

Add 1.5 to the men's US size on the scale shops use. A men's 8 is a women's 9.5. A few makers use plus 1 or plus 2, so check the brand.

What is a women's 8 in men's?

6.5. Take 1.5 off the women's US size to get the men's size for the same foot, and the UK size is the men's size minus 1, here 5.5.

Is a women's shoe size chart the same for every brand?

No. Sizes follow the same steps, but each brand uses its own shoe shape. The EU and cm columns in particular can differ by half a size between brands.

What is the Paris point?

The unit of the continental European scale, two thirds of a centimetre. EU size 42 is a last 28 cm long (42 divided by 1.5).

How do I find my size from my foot length?

Choose Foot length in cm and type it. A 26 cm foot gives a men's US 8.5, UK 7.5 and EU 41.5 here. Brand charts may list the same foot as US 8 or 9, so check theirs.

Which size do I choose between two sizes?

The bigger one. A shoe that is a little long can be fixed with an insole or a thicker sock, and a short shoe cannot.

What are Japan sizes?

Your foot length in centimetres, in steps of half a centimetre, so a Japan 26 fits a foot about 26 cm long. Some labels add a letter for width.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. The size is worked out in your browser, and the last settings are kept in this browser only.
