No crop on Instagram
Pad a wide photo to 4:5 or square with white or a blurred frame, and the whole picture shows in the feed.
Free tool
Put a frame around a photo or a screenshot: a plain colour, a gradient, or a soft blurred copy of the photo itself. Round the corners, add a shadow and a fine inner line. Or pad the picture out to a square, 4:5 or 9:16 so the whole photo fits a post or a story without being cropped. Saved at full size.

A gradient, rounded corners and a soft shadow make a plain screenshot look finished in a post or a slide.

A wide white border with a thin inner line looks like a photo in a frame with a mat.
Questions
The width is a percentage of the photo's shorter side, so the frame looks the same on a small or a large photo. The finished size in pixels is shown under the preview.
No. The photo is placed at its full size and only the border is added around it. JPG is compressed lightly when saved; PNG keeps every pixel.
Rounded outer corners and "None" leave see-through parts, which JPG cannot keep, so PNG is chosen for you.
It fills the border with a soft, enlarged copy of the photo, so the frame picks up the photo's own colours. It works best with "Fit to a shape".
No. It stays in this tab.
