How do I put my own picture behind the subject?
Pick "Your own picture" under New background and choose the picture. It is scaled to cover the whole photo and centred. Pick another to try a different one.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The AI model that finds the subject, ormbg (Apache 2.0 licence), is served from this site and runs in this tab, 44 to 88 MB the first time. The photo never leaves your computer.
Does it keep hair?
Mostly. Set Edges to "Soft, keeps hair and glass" for fine hair, fur or see-through things; "Sharp" suits products with hard outlines.
Which file do I get?
A JPG at the photo's own size, up to 16.7 million pixels. For a see-through PNG with no background at all, use remove background.
Will the light match the new background?
No, the subject keeps its own light and colours. Pick a background with similar light (a warm gradient for a sunny portrait, a dark one for an evening shot) and it looks more natural.
