Image to SVG: trace a picture into a vector.

Turn a PNG, JPG or WebP into an SVG made of real shapes, so a logo or an icon stays sharp at any size and can be edited in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape. Colour or black and white, with the background made transparent if you like. It runs in this tab, so nothing is uploaded. No sign-up, no limit.

This runs in your browser. Your pictures are never uploaded.

How it works

Three steps, nothing to install.

01 / Drop

Choose a picture

Drop a PNG, JPG or WebP, or paste a screenshot. It is traced straight away.

02 / Adjust

Pick what it is

Logo, drawing, photo or black and white. Change the number of colours, drop small specks, or clear the background. The SVG updates as you go.

03 / Save

Compare and download

Drag the line to compare with the original, then download the SVG or copy its code.

Questions

Good to know.

Is this a real vector SVG?

Yes. The picture is traced into filled shapes with curved or straight outlines, one shape per area of colour. It is not a PNG wrapped inside an SVG file, which some converters make and which still goes blurry when enlarged.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The tracer is downloaded to your browser, about 150 KB, and works there, so the picture never leaves your computer.

What traces the picture?

VTracer, an open tracer by visioncortex, under the MIT licence. It groups the colours into areas, stacks them from back to front, and fits curves to each outline.

What works best?

Logos, icons, flat drawings, signatures and line art with clear edges. Photos and soft gradients trace too, but as many flat patches, so the file gets large and looks like a poster. For a logo, start from the largest, cleanest copy you have.

How do I get a transparent background?

Tick "Make the background transparent". It clears the colour around the edges of the picture, like a magic wand. Areas that are already transparent in a PNG stay empty either way.

Can I edit the SVG afterwards?

Yes. Open it in Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape or Affinity, and each colour area is its own shape you can recolour or delete. Or paste the copied code straight into a web page.
