No. It is converted in this tab with your browser, so the file never leaves your computer. MP3 files are made with a WebAssembly build of the LAME MP3 encoder.
What is a M4A file?
M4A is AAC sound inside an MPEG-4 file. Voice Memos on a Mac and an iPhone saves recordings as M4A, and many music downloads use it.
Why convert to MP3?
MP3 is compressed sound that plays on almost every phone, car stereo, player and website.
Does it lower the quality?
Both are compressed, so turning one into the other loses a little. Pick 192 kbps or higher and it is hard to hear.
Is there a size limit?
The file is handled in your browser's memory, so very large files can fail. Close other tabs and try again.
