Free tool

MP4 to MP3 converter.

Pull the sound out of a video and save it as an MP3: a talk, a voice-over or a meeting recording. It works with MP4, MOV and WebM, runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

This runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

How it works

Three steps, nothing to install.

01 / Drop

Choose a video

Drag in an MP4, MOV or WebM. It is read from your own disk.

02 / Pick

Choose the quality

Pick an MP3 bitrate. 192 kbps suits voice and most music.

03 / Save

Convert and download

The sound is encoded to MP3 in the page. Listen to it, then download it.

Questions

Good to know.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The MP3 is made in this tab with a WebAssembly build of the LAME MP3 encoder, so the file never leaves your computer.

Which files work?

Video files with a sound track that your browser can read: MP4, MOV, M4A, WebM and MKV.

Which quality should I pick?

A higher bitrate gives a larger file. It cannot add detail that was not in the original sound, so going above the original rarely helps.

Does it keep the video?

No. Only the sound is kept. To keep the video and drop the sound instead, use remove audio from video.

Is there a size limit?

The file is handled in your browser's memory, so very large files can fail. Close other tabs and try again.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.
