Questions

Good to know.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The cutting runs in this tab with your browser. The file never leaves your Mac.

What is the difference between a fast cut and an exact cut?

A fast cut copies the video without re-encoding it, so quality is untouched and it is quick. A video can only be copied from a key frame, so the file starts at the key frame before your mark and most players skip to the exact mark, while a few show a short lead-in. An exact cut re-encodes the video so it starts exactly where you set it.

Does trimming lower the quality?

A fast cut does not. An exact cut re-encodes the video, so there is a small loss, as with any re-encode.

Is there a length or size limit?

The file is handled in your browser's memory, so very large files, over about 2 GB, can fail. Close other tabs and try again.

Does it add a watermark?

No. The clip you download has no watermark and no branding.

Which formats can it read?

.mov, .mp4, .m4v, .webm and .mkv, as long as your browser can play the file. If your browser cannot play it, it cannot trim it.
