Questions

Good to know.

Is my video uploaded?

No. It is resized in this tab with your browser, so the file never leaves your Mac.

What is the difference between bars and crop?

Keep everything fits the whole picture inside the new size and fills the rest with black bars. Fill the frame makes the picture cover the whole new size and cuts off whatever sticks out. Stretch changes the shape of the picture, so it is rarely what you want.

Which size is which shape?

16:9 is the wide shape of most screens, 9:16 is tall like a phone held upright, 1:1 is square, and 4:5 is a little taller than wide.

Does it make the video larger?

You can pick a bigger size, but it only stretches the same picture, so it will not look sharper. Going smaller is what this tool is best at.

Does it change the quality?

The video is re-encoded, so there is a small loss, as with any re-encode. The bitrate is set to suit the new size.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge and Safari, which can encode H.264 video. The file has to be one your browser can play.
