Free tool

Volume booster, make audio louder.

Drop in a quiet song, podcast or voice note and raise its volume by up to 20 dB, or let the tool lift it as high as it can go without distortion. Peaks are rounded off by a soft limiter instead of crackling. Save as MP3 or WAV. This changes the file itself; it does not boost the volume of your speakers or browser.

The sound is changed in your browser. It is never uploaded.

Questions

Good to know.

Will it distort?

Above a certain level any sound would clip and crackle. Here the loudest peaks are bent smoothly under the top instead (a soft limiter), and the tool tells you how much of the sound it had to hold back. "As loud as possible" raises the level until the loudest moment sits just under the top, so nothing is held back at all.

How many decibels should I add?

Start with "As loud as possible". If that is still too quiet, the sound has a few loud peaks and a quiet rest: add 3 to 6 dB more by hand and listen for squashed or pumping sound.

Can it make my laptop speakers louder?

No. It makes the file louder, so it plays louder everywhere. It cannot raise your computer or browser above its own maximum.

Can I boost a video?

Use Increase video volume, which makes the sound louder and keeps the picture as it was.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The sound is changed in this browser tab.
