Chrome's built-in AI writes a new summary, in English, Spanish or Japanese meetings, on computers that meet Google's requirements. Without it, the notes are the key sentences from the meeting itself.

Is my recording uploaded?
No. The speech model runs in this tab, and so does the summary. The first time, the page downloads the speech model and keeps it for next time. Meetings often hold private details, which is why nothing is sent to a server.
Which recordings work?
Audio or video files from Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, a phone's voice memo app or a screen recorder, as MP3, M4A, WAV, MOV, MP4 or WebM. A clear recording with one person speaking at a time gives the best notes.
How does it write the summary?
In Chrome 138 and later, on a computer that meets Google's requirements, Chrome's own on-device AI writes it. Everywhere else, the page picks the sentences that carry the most of the meeting's words, so the notes use only what was said. Actions are sentences that sound like a task or a decision, such as "I will send the file by Friday".
Does it know who said what?
Not yet. The transcript has the time of each line, but not the speaker's name.
How long does it take?
It depends on your computer and the length of the meeting. A computer with a recent graphics card writes out an hour much faster than one without. The page shows how much is done and about how long is left.
