Questions

Good to know.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are converted in this tab with your browser, so they never leave your computer.

What is a PNG file?

PNG keeps every pixel and supports see-through areas. Screenshots on a Mac are saved as PNG files.

Why convert to ICO?

ICO is the Windows icon format, also used for website favicons. One ICO file holds the same picture at several sizes.

Does it lower the quality?

Each size is drawn from your picture, so a large, square source gives the sharpest icon. Small sizes such as 16 pixels lose fine detail.

Can I convert many at once?

Yes. Drop several pictures together. Download them one by one, or all at once in a ZIP file.

What size should my PNG be?

Square and at least 256 by 256 pixels gives the best icon. A picture that is not square is fitted in the middle with see-through space around it.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Safari works too.
