Why does my new favicon not show up?
Browsers keep favicons for a long time. After uploading, open the favicon address itself (yoursite.com/favicon.ico) and reload it, or try a private window. Search results can take days or weeks to show a new icon.
How do I add it to WordPress, Shopify or Webflow?
These platforms have their own setting: WordPress under Appearance, Customize, Site Identity, "Site Icon"; Shopify in the theme editor's settings under Favicon; Webflow under Site settings, Favicon. Upload the 512 pixel PNG from the ZIP there.
Why is the Apple icon square?
iPhones and iPads round the corners themselves and show black behind see-through parts, so the Apple touch icon is saved square and filled with your background colour.
What makes a good favicon?
One bold shape or one or two letters with strong contrast. Details disappear at 16 pixels, so check the enlarged 16 pixel preview.
