Is my signature uploaded or stored?
No. It is drawn, typed or cleaned up in this tab and never sent anywhere. If you press "Sign a PDF with it", it is kept in this browser's own storage so the Sign PDF page can offer it, and you can remove it there.
How do I add it to a Word or Google Docs file?
Download the PNG, then insert it as a picture: Insert, then Pictures in Word, or Insert, then Image in Google Docs. The background is see-through, so it sits on the page like ink. Or copy it here and paste it into the document.
Is a signature made here legally valid?
In many countries an electronic signature can be valid, for example under the ESIGN Act in the United States and eIDAS in the European Union, but the rules depend on the country and the kind of document. Some documents need a certified digital signature or a signature in ink. When in doubt, ask the person who asked you to sign or a lawyer.
Which way looks most like my real signature?
From a photo: sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take the photo straight on in good light, and use Clean up to remove grey shadows. Drawing works best with a pen on a tablet or a finger on a phone.
Are the fonts free to use?
Yes. The ten handwriting fonts are released under the SIL Open Font License or the Apache License, which allow personal and commercial use, and the signature picture you download is yours.
