01 / Random
Every split equally likely
Names are shuffled with your browser's secure random generator, then dealt out in turn, so no team is favoured.
Free tool
Paste the names, one per line, choose how many teams or how many people in each, and get random teams in a click. Teams differ in size by one at most. Add a skill level after a name, like "Sam 3", to balance the teams, pick a captain for each, and shuffle again until everyone is happy. Copy the teams into a chat or save them as a spreadsheet.
For balance, write a number after a name, like "Sam 3" or "Lee 7". Stronger players are dealt out first in turn, so each team gets a fair share.
Names stay in your browser (kept on this computer for next time) and are never sent anywhere.
Fair by design

02 / Even
13 people in 3 teams gives 5, 4 and 4. Split by people per team and the last team never ends up with one person.
03 / Balanced
With a level after each name, players are dealt in a snake order, strongest first, and each team shows its total level.
