01 / Repeat
11 × 4 = 44
For 1 to 9, write the digit twice.
Free tool
The 11 times table runs 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132. For 1 to 9 the answer is the digit written twice. Read the table, hide the answers, take a scored quiz, or print a chart or practice sheet. No sign-up and no limit.

How it works
01 / Repeat
For 1 to 9, write the digit twice.
02 / Two digits
11 × 34: write 3, then 3 + 4 = 7, then 4. That gives 374.
03 / Ten plus one
11 × 12 is 120 plus 12. That is 132.
Guide
The 11 times table is 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132 up to 11 × 12. The first nine facts are the digit repeated, and the trick extends to two-digit numbers. The tool above shows the table, hides answers, runs a scored quiz with a hint for every wrong answer, and prints a chart or sheet.
| Sum | Answer | A way to work it out |
|---|---|---|
| 11 × 1 | 11 | Write 1 twice = 11 |
| 11 × 2 | 22 | Write 2 twice = 22 |
| 11 × 3 | 33 | Write 3 twice = 33 |
| 11 × 4 | 44 | Write 4 twice = 44 |
| 11 × 5 | 55 | Write 5 twice = 55 |
| 11 × 6 | 66 | Write 6 twice = 66 |
| 11 × 7 | 77 | Write 7 twice = 77 |
| 11 × 8 | 88 | Write 8 twice = 88 |
| 11 × 9 | 99 | Write 9 twice = 99 |
| 11 × 10 | 110 | 10 × 10 = 100, plus 10 = 110 |
| 11 × 11 | 121 | 10 × 11 = 110, plus 11 = 121 |
| 11 × 12 | 132 | 10 × 12 = 120, plus 12 = 132 |
11 × 1 = 11, 11 × 2 = 22, and so on up to 11 × 9 = 99. These answers read the same forwards and backwards. The ones digit goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0 and then 1 again, repeating every ten steps.
The next three break the repeat: 11 × 10 = 110, 11 × 11 = 121, 11 × 12 = 132. Each step adds 11, which raises the middle digit by 1 and the last digit by 1, so the answers read 110, 121, 132.
To multiply a two-digit number by 11, write the first digit, then the sum of the two digits, then the last digit. 11 × 34 gives 3, 7, 4, which is 374. 11 × 52 gives 5, 7, 2, which is 572. If the sum is 10 or more, carry the 1: for 11 × 78, the middle is 7 + 8 = 15, so write 7, 5, 8 and carry the 1 into the 7. That makes 858. For 11 × 99 the middle is 18, giving 9, 18, 9, which becomes 1,089.
Subtract and add the digits alternately from the left. For 121: 1 minus 2 plus 1 = 0, so 121 is in the table. For 2,728: 2 minus 7 plus 2 minus 8 = minus 11, which is a multiple of 11, so 2,728 = 11 × 248. If the result is 0 or a multiple of 11, the number is in the table.
Set Go up to to 20 and the tool shows these as well. For any of them, split the number: 11 × 13 is 11 × 10 plus 11 × 3, which is 110 + 33 = 143.
| Sum | Answer |
|---|---|
| 11 × 13 | 143 |
| 11 × 14 | 154 |
| 11 × 15 | 165 |
| 11 × 16 | 176 |
| 11 × 17 | 187 |
| 11 × 18 | 198 |
| 11 × 19 | 209 |
| 11 × 20 | 220 |
The first nine facts take a minute. Then learn 110, 121 and 132 as a set. Try the two-digit trick on a few numbers, and use the quiz to check you have the last three.
Next, try the 12 times table, or go back to the 10 times table. To see every table in one grid, use the times tables chart. To make your own cards, try the flashcard maker.
Questions
11 × 11 = 121.
11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132.
Write the digit twice for 1 to 9. For a two-digit number, put the sum of the digits between them.
Write the first digit, then the sum of both digits, then the last digit. Carry if the sum is 10 or more.
Take the digits alternately minus and plus. If the result is 0 or a multiple of 11, the number is in the table.
Each is 10 × k plus k, and that puts k in both the tens and ones places.
