Free tool
FLV was the Flash video format of the early web, and old downloads, webinar recordings and game captures still sit in it. Most players have dropped it. Drop an FLV here and get an MP4 that plays everywhere. A small FFmpeg made for this site reads it in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Settings
Every frame is converted, so a long video takes a while. Keep this tab open.
This runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.
How it works
01 / Read
Sorenson Spark, On2 VP6 and H.264 pictures, with MP3, AAC, Nellymoser or ADPCM sound.
02 / Convert
Each frame is saved again as H.264 and the sound as AAC, the MP4 every device plays.
03 / Save
Play the MP4 right here, then download it.
Questions
FLV was made for Adobe Flash Player, which Adobe stopped supporting at the end of 2020. Browsers and most players do not read FLV on their own.
No. It is read and converted in your browser.
The picture is saved again as H.264 at the same size, at the quality you pick. Old FLV videos are often small, so the MP4 usually is too.
It is encoded again; at the High setting the difference is hard to see.
F4V is closer to MP4 and is usually read too. If it fails, try the video converter.
