Questions

Good to know.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It is converted in this tab with your browser, so the file never leaves your computer. MP3 files are made with a WebAssembly build of the LAME MP3 encoder.

What is a Opus file?

Opus is an open sound format with very good quality at small sizes. WhatsApp voice notes, Discord and many browser recordings use it, but many players and car stereos do not.

Why convert to MP3?

MP3 is compressed sound that plays on almost every phone, car stereo, player and website.

Does it lower the quality?

Both are compressed, so turning one into the other loses a little. Pick 192 kbps or higher and it is hard to hear.

Is there a size limit?

The file is handled in your browser's memory, so very large files can fail. Close other tabs and try again.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.
