PDF translator, private by design.

Most PDF translators upload your file to a server. This one reads the PDF in your browser, translates it on your computer and shows every paragraph next to the original so you can fix it. Then save the translation as a new, clean PDF or as text. Good for contracts, manuals, letters and papers you would rather not upload.

Your PDF is read and translated in your browser. It is never uploaded.

How it works

Read, translate, rebuild.

01 / Read

Text and structure

The words are read from the PDF and grouped into headings, paragraphs and lists. Page numbers and repeated headers are left out.

02 / Translate

On your computer

Chrome on a computer uses its built-in translator. Other browsers download an open model once, for fewer languages.

03 / Save

A clean new PDF

Check each paragraph next to the original, then save a new PDF, print it, or take the text.

Questions

Good to know.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened by your browser and the translation runs on your computer. That makes it a good fit for contracts, medical letters and anything private.

Will the translated PDF look like the original?

No. It is rebuilt as clean text with the same headings, paragraphs and lists, but without the original's pictures, tables, columns and design. Keep the original next to it for figures and layout.

Which languages work?

In Chrome on a computer, about 40 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. In other browsers, English to and from about a dozen languages.

Why is "Download the PDF" greyed out for my language?

The direct PDF uses a font for Latin, Cyrillic and Greek letters. For Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese and other alphabets, press "Print or save as PDF" and choose Save as PDF: your computer's own fonts draw every alphabet, right to left included.

Can it translate a scanned PDF?

Not directly, since a scan is a picture with no text in it. Get the text out first with the OCR option in PDF to text.

Is the translation good enough to sign or file?

Machine translation is a good way to understand a document, but for anything legal or official, have a qualified translator check it.
