Free tool

Blur faces in a photo, automatically.

Drop a photo or a screenshot and every face is found and boxed for you. Check the boxes, move or remove any, add one by hand, then blur, pixelate or black them out. A small AI face finder runs in this tab, so the photo is never uploaded. No sign-up, no watermark.

This runs in your browser. Your pictures are never uploaded.

How it works

Three steps, nothing to install.

01 / Drop

Choose a photo

A group photo, a street scene or a screenshot with faces in it.

02 / Check

Check the boxes

Every face it finds gets a box. Move or remove a box, or drag on the photo to add a face it missed.

03 / Save

Blur and download

Blur, pixelate or black out the boxes and save the photo at its own size.

Questions

Good to know.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The face finder is downloaded to your browser and runs there, so the photo never leaves your computer. That matters most for photos of other people.

How does it find faces?

With YuNet, a small open face detection model from the OpenCV project, under the MIT licence. It looks at the whole photo and, in a large photo, at overlapping parts of it, so small faces in a crowd are found too.

Will it find every face?

Most clear faces, including small ones, but not always: faces seen from the side or from behind, very small or blurry faces, and faces partly covered can be missed. Always check the photo and add a box for any face it missed before you share it.

Which is safest?

A black box. It removes the pixels completely. Strong blur and pixelation hide a face well, but black leaves nothing to guess from.

Can someone undo it?

Not from the new file: the original pixels are replaced, not covered by a layer. Keep the original to yourself, because it still has everything.

Can I blur faces in a video?

Yes, with the blur faces in a video tool, which follows the faces frame by frame.
