Free tool

Discord video compressor, under the limit.

Too big to send? Drop the clip, gameplay or screen recording and get an MP4 that fits Discord's upload limit: 20 MB on a free account, 50 MB with Nitro Basic. When the target is small for a long video, the picture is made smaller too, so it stays sharp instead of turning blocky. It runs in your browser, with no upload and no watermark.

This runs in your browser. Your video is never uploaded.

Questions

Good to know.

Why does Discord say my file is too large on my phone?

Discord checks the size before it compresses anything, so a long phone video is measured at its full size. Compress it here first, then send the smaller MP4.

How long a video fits in 20 MB?

It depends on how sharp you want it. About a minute of 1080p screen recording fits well; several minutes fit at 720p or 480p, which this page picks for you when the target is tight.

Will it play inside Discord?

Yes. The result is an MP4 with H.264 video, which Discord plays in the chat on desktop and phones.

Is the size exact?

It aims a little under the target and shows the real size afterwards. If it is still over, lower the target or pick a smaller picture size and run it again.

Is my video uploaded?

No. It is compressed in this browser tab and never leaves your computer.
