A tidy that ends
Ten minutes on one room, then stop. A bell turns it into a game with an end, not an open-ended chore.

Guide
A 10 minute timer counts down 600 seconds and rings at zero. Ten minutes is long enough to get real work done and short enough to start without a plan. This timer gives you a ring that empties, soft cues at halfway and with one minute left, rounds for repeating the block, and a label so you remember what the time is for. It keeps correct time in a background tab.
A ten minute tidy has a clear size: one room, one drawer, or the dishes. Pick the label Tidy up, press Start, and stop when the bell rings, even if you are not done. The point is to make a start you can repeat tomorrow. Tick the halfway chime and check your pace: if half the time has gone and you have done less than half, shrink the job to one shelf.
The CDC's page for adults says they need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity a week, and that you can break it up into smaller chunks of time (CDC guidelines for adults, checked 24 Oct 2026). The arithmetic is simple: 15 blocks of 10 minutes make 150. A ten minute walk or workout block with a bell at the end is easy to fit between other things. This page times only; it is not medical advice, so ask a doctor what is right for you.
Ten minutes of reading, an instrument or a language lesson a day adds up because it is easy to keep. Set the label, press Start and put your phone down. For a catch-up call, give each person half the time: with the halfway chime on, the first person finishes when 5:00 is left and the second when the bell rings.

A ten minute meeting works when the time is divided before it starts: 2 minutes for updates, 6 minutes for the one topic, and 2 minutes to agree decisions and owners. The sum is 10. With the cues on, the halfway chime plays when 5:00 is left, midway through the topic, and the one minute chime plays at 1:00, which is the end of the decisions. Put the timer in full screen, and everyone can see which part you are in.
A big job looks smaller in pieces. Choose 3 rounds to give yourself 30 minutes in three ten minute parts: sort, do, then check. A bell ends each part and the next starts at once. If you need a pause between parts, press Start by hand after each bell. The label stays the same through every round, so write a single clear one, such as Garage sort.
On a ten minute block you may be deep in something when the bell comes. Choose a sound you will notice but not dread. Press Hear the sound and pick between Bell, Chime, Beep and Digital watch, and use the volume slider rather than the computer volume to adjust it.
